Remove PDF pages

Delete pages from a PDF. Type the numbers of the pages you do not want, and save the document without them.

How the files you choose are handled is set out in the privacy policy.

How to delete pages from a PDF

  1. Tap Choose a PDF.
  2. Type the pages to remove, such as 1, 7-9.
  3. Press Remove pages, then Save PDF.

The saved file has -edited added to its name. Your original is not changed.

Pages people usually remove

  • Blank pages. A double-sided scan of single-sided paper leaves every second page empty.
  • Covers and separators. Fax cover sheets, scanner banner pages and “this page intentionally left blank”.
  • Adverts and terms. The last pages of a bill or a ticket confirmation.
  • A wrong scan. The page that went through crooked before it was scanned again.
  • Pages the reader should not see. Internal notes or pricing in a document going to a customer.

What is kept

Unlike copying pages into a new file, removing works on the document itself. That means the things attached to the document survive:

KeptChanged
Bookmarks for the remaining pagesBookmarks that pointed to a removed page no longer lead anywhere
Form fields on the remaining pages, still fillableFields on removed pages are gone
Document title, author and other propertiesPage numbers printed on the pages are not renumbered
Text, pictures and quality of every remaining pageThe file gets smaller by roughly what the removed pages held

Printed page numbers are part of each page's content, so after removing page 3 the document will read 1, 2, 4, 5. If that matters, the numbers have to be corrected in the program that produced the document.

Removing a page really removes it

The removed pages are taken out of the document, not hidden. They cannot be brought back from the saved file, which is what you want when the reason for removing them is privacy. Keep the original somewhere safe if you may need those pages again.

Note that this deletes whole pages. It does not black out a paragraph or a name within a page.

If you want to keep only a few pages

When the pages to keep are fewer than the pages to drop, extract PDF pages is less typing: you list what stays. To change the order of what is left, use reorder PDF pages.

Questions

How do I delete one page from a PDF?

Choose the PDF, type that page's number, press Remove pages and save the result.

Can I remove blank pages automatically?

Not automatically. Type their numbers. For a double-sided scan where every even page is blank, removing them in a few ranges is quick.

Can deleted pages be recovered from the new file?

No. They are removed from the document, not hidden. Keep your original if you might need them.

Can I remove every page?

No. At least one page has to remain, or there would be no document to save.

Does it work on a protected PDF?

Not while the protection is in place. Save an unprotected copy from the program that created it first.
